Today's entry is a bit of a milestone for two reasons. It's the 100th post on yiqianzi.net. At the beginning of the year, I made a small commitment to myself that I'd post a photo a day for the month of January. I somehow was able to do so.
As I mentioned before, It has been difficult to find inspiration in the last week or so. With a four month old baby, I find that I have very little energy outside of helping to care for him and my responsibilities at work. As a result, my photo taking has come in spurts. I'm able to find a bit of time here and there where I can go out and find a small handful of shots that I think are "good enough." But in fact, they haven't been "good enough" for me. I feel like I'm stuck in a rut.
But "forcing" myself to post a picture a day has been a very good exercise. Even though I feel a bit stuck, I also find myself making an effort to try to shake myself loose. I believe that if I continue to push myself, I will become unstuck and hopefully be a better photographer as a result. I'm headed for New York in a few days. I'm hoping that will provide some inspiration (as well as a small back log so I can take a break). Then, sometime later in the spring, I'm going to try an experiment. I'm going to shoot nothing but people for a month.
Anyway, to the small handful of people who have visited here in the last 4 months: Thanks!
