Starting early today, I lost my iBook for a couple of weeks while its logic board can be replaced. As a result of this and some bad planning on my part, I almost lost my streak of consecutive daily posts. I've posted a photo a day every day of 2005 so far. And it goes back into 2004 by a few weeks as well. There have been days when I didn't want to post or more commonly, didn't feel like there was a photo worth posting. But, I figured that the main reason for this whole exercise was to help me become a better photographer in large part by forcing me to take photos even when I was not inspired. After all, professional photographers have to meet their assignments regardless of how they are feeling.
But it was nearing 10pm when I realized that I hadn't posted a photo today. I had a work computer at home but not only was it a nasty windoze laptop, but it had no photo editing software of any sort on it and no way for me to connect it to my firewire drive where I did happen to have a couple of photos ready to go. So what did I do? I ran to work, bringing my hard drive along, so that I could use a machine with a firewire port to find a photo to post.
The thing about all of this is that I don't think there are many visitors to this site. So, who am I doing this for? For me, I suppose. But still, for a while there I was reminded one of my favorite lines from "The Empire Strikes Back:"
"I'm out of it for a little while and everyone gets delusions of grandeur."
