If you're reading this, then you've realized that changes are afoot on this site. The biggest change is the URL. Many people have pointed out to me that "yiqianzi" is incredibly difficult for an English speaker to remember. "yiqianzi" is pinyin for "1000 words", something I thought was a cute play on the phrase "a picture is worth 1000 words" while having some sort of connection to Chinese (Mandarin). However, the few people who do visit this site are primarily English speakers and don't know pinyin and if I wanted them and others to continue to visit, I felt that I needed to change the name to something easier to remember.
Some of you may recall that several months ago, I switched the software that backs this site from Movable Type, to some homegrown software based on a web framework called SWF. At the time, I had stated several reasons for making the switch, all of which have turned out to be considerably more beneficial than I expected.
Because of these reasons and the fact that Java based hosting is considerably more expensive than Perl and PHP (and Rails!) hosting, I decided to switch cheechoo.net to SWF and to move yiqianzi.net underneath cheechoo.net. I will maintain the yiqianzi.net domain for a few years, primarily because I wrote a Movable Type plugin, Arithmetic, that appears to be used by a handful of people and I feel I have a responsibility to maintain its location.
So, if you're one of the few who visit, please update your bookmarks and RSS readers. Or maybe not since "cheechoo" should be easy to remember. :)
